How Moms & Children Exclusive works

Curated travel formats for different ages, comfort needs, and group dynamics.

Moms and Children Exclusive at Taro Voyages is a travel package service for mothers traveling with children, covering kid-friendly activities, safe environments, and shared bonding time.

Family holidays are wonderful — but they are rarely just about the two of you. Moms & Children trips are different. They are intentionally designed for the bond between a mother and her child — to strengthen it, celebrate it, and fill it with shared experiences that last decades. Not memories preserved in photographs, but memories that live in the body: the smell of the sea at a place you visited together, the taste of something you cooked side by side, the particular light of an afternoon when time stopped and everything was perfect.

A mother and her daughter exploring the colours of Rajasthan. A mom and her son on a wildlife safari, watching a tiger emerge from the grassland at dawn. A single mother building her child's world view one country at a time. A grandmother and granddaughter sharing a gondola in Venice. These trips are not logistics — they are love stories in motion.

We design every detail with two very different travellers in mind: a mother who wants to genuinely unwind — not just physically present but mentally released from the management of everything — and a child who wants to genuinely discover. The result is itineraries that delight both: active enough to hold young attention fully, calm enough to restore maternal energy completely.

Safety is built into every element without becoming the story. Vetted family-friendly hotels where the pool has proper fencing and the staff know children's names. Private vehicles so there is no public transport anxiety. Child-appropriate activities that challenge and delight without overwhelming. A dedicated trip manager who has read your child's profile before you land and has already made the arrangements that make both of you feel looked after.

We believe that a child who travels grows into an adult who understands the world — its diversity, its generosity, its strangeness and beauty — in a way that no classroom can replicate. The best thing you can give your child, we genuinely believe, is not a gadget or a degree or a savings account. It is the memory of the morning they saw the ocean for the first time. And we know exactly how to give it to them.

You will not remember the inbox you cleared or the meeting you attended. You will remember the afternoon your child saw the ocean for the first time.

Chiang Mai is the largest city in northern Thailand and the capital of Chiang Mai province, sitting 700 kilometres north of Bangkok in the mountainous Thai highlands. It is Thailand's second-largest city by urban population, with roughly 127,000 residents within the city municipality and an urban population of about 1.2 million as of 2023.

About three-fifths of Rajasthan lies northwest of the Aravalli Range, which runs for more than 850 kilometres across the state and rises to 1,722 metres at Guru Shikhar on Mount Abu, its southwestern peak. A series of broken ridges continues the range northeast into Haryana, appearing as outcrops such as Raisina Hill near Delhi, while the Thar Desert dominates much of the terrain to the range's northwest.

The Maldives is made up of 1,192 coral islands arranged in a double chain of 26 atolls stretching 871 kilometres north to south and 130 kilometres east to west, spread across roughly 90,000 square kilometres of which only 298 square kilometres is dry land — making it one of the world's most geographically dispersed countries. The atolls sit atop a 960-kilometre submarine ridge rising from the floor of the Indian Ocean, and only near the southern end of this coral barrier do two open passages allow ships to pass from one side of the ocean to the other.

What This Covers

Deliverables

What Moms & Children Exclusive actually plans and arranges.

Wildlife & Ethical Nature Encounters

Ethical elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai where children help bathe the elephants (no riding, sanctuary welfare protocols). Giraffe Centre in Nairobi — hand-feeding at eye level. Tiger spotting at Ranthambore at dawn. Adventures that ignite a child's curiosity and awe in ways no screen can approach.

Creative & Cultural Workshops

Pottery on a wheel in a Jaipur artisan's studio. Batik painting with a Balinese master. Pizza-making with a Napoli nonna. Sushi rolling in Tokyo with a patient chef who teaches children first. Hands-on experiences that make culture tangible, personal, and retained forever.

Beach & Island Escapes

Maldives water villa stays with shallow snorkelling lagoons safe for young swimmers. Bali family resorts with kids' clubs that rival the adult spa for quality. Andaman island-hopping between beaches of improbable beauty. Slow, joyful holidays where the sea is the entire entertainment.

Fairy-Tale Europe

Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria — Cinderella's castle, confirmed. Tulip fields in Holland in April, a carpet of colour to horizon. Gondola through Venice's hidden canals before the crowds arrive. Europe seen through a child's eyes is genuinely the most magical place on earth — and we know the exact viewing angles.

Culinary Adventures Together

Pizza-making in a wood-fired Naples kitchen. Sushi rolling in Tokyo with a chef who explains the difference between a 5-year apprenticeship and a recipe card. French pastry lamination in Paris. Thai green curry from scratch in Chiang Mai. Food experiences that create skills, memories, and dinner-table stories in equal measure.

Wellness & Slow Travel

Kerala Ayurveda resorts with child-friendly treatment options and family packages. Forest stays in Coorg's coffee estates where mornings smell of rain and cardamom. Yoga on a Rishikesh riverbank as the Ganga runs past. Holidays that restore the mother as genuinely as they delight the child.

Train & Journey Travel

The toy train from Mettupalayam to Ooty through the Nilgiri forest. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage steam journey. Sri Lanka's coastal train from Colombo to Galle through fishing villages and coconut groves. Journey travel that children remember as long as the destination itself.

Snorkelling & Marine Discovery

Guided snorkelling in the Andamans' coral gardens with a marine biologist who explains what they're seeing. Glass-bottom boat rides over Lakshadweep reefs. Night snorkelling to see bioluminescence in Maldives. Marine encounters supervised carefully for children who have never been underwater before.

Mountain & Hill Station Adventures

Pony rides in Manali's apple orchards. Toy train to Shimla through pine forests. Chopta meadows in Uttarakhand — wildflowers and views of Kedar peak. Sikkim's Rumtek monastery and cardamom forests. Hill stations give children their first experience of altitude, cold mist, and mountain drama.

Living History Journeys

Walking through Hampi's temple ruins and asking a child what they think happened here. The sound-and-light show at Golconda Fort. Angkor Wat at sunrise — the reflection, the stone, the silence — seen by a child who asks why it was built. History that a child absorbs through feet and eyes rather than textbook pages.

Theme Parks & Play-Centred Trips

Universal Studios Singapore with queue-free express passes. Legoland Malaysia for younger children. Adlabs Imagica near Mumbai. Imagicaa and Wonderla for half-days combined with cultural exploration. We build theme-park days into broader itineraries so they enhance rather than dominate the journey.

Village Homestays & Farm Experiences

A night in a working Coorg coffee estate family's homestay. Helping feed animals at a Kerala village farm. Cooking over a wood fire in a Rajasthani haveli kitchen. These are the experiences children cannot explain to friends but never forget — the texture of real life in another world.

Good To Know

Constraints & practical notes

Pack the Comfort Items — Non-Negotiable
A familiar stuffed toy, favourite snack, comfort blanket, or small pillow can transform a nervous child into an excited traveller at 35,000 feet. We recommend a small 'travel companion kit' that lives in the carry-on and signals to the child that this is their adventure too.
Download Everything Before You Fly
Load Google Maps offline for every city, 3–4 favourite shows or audiobooks, a travel journal app, and a destination quiz game. The journey is genuinely part of the trip — and a prepared device makes long flights and transfers feel like adventures rather than ordeals.
Food Strategy Starts at Home
We identify child-friendly menu options at every restaurant on your itinerary, pre-coordinate hotel kitchens for simple children's dishes, and pack an emergency snack bag into every transfer kit — because the fastest way to ruin a perfect day is a hungry child at 3pm in an unfamiliar country.
Build in Rest — It Is Not Wasted Time
For children under 8, we build a midday rest window into every itinerary. A rested child sees more, enjoys more, and remembers more than an exhausted one. The afternoon you think you're 'wasting' at the hotel pool is often the one your child talks about for years.
Prepare the Travel Medical Kit Specifically
Paediatric doses of fever medication, antihistamine, rehydration sachets, antiseptic spray, and any prescription medications — all in original packaging with prescriptions. We provide a destination-specific health advisory with every booking, including vaccination requirements and water safety guidance.
Give the Child Their Own Small Backpack
A 5–7 year old with their own child-sized backpack containing their stuffed toy, snacks, a small notebook, and their water bottle immediately transforms from passenger to participant. Agency matters enormously to children — this simple gesture improves the entire experience.
Teach 3 Local Words Before You Go
Hello, thank you, and please in the local language. This takes 10 minutes before departure and transforms how the destination receives your child. In Japan, a child saying 'arigatou gozaimasu' will receive a response that the child will remember for the rest of their life.
Let the Child Hold the Camera Sometimes
Give the child a 30-minute window with the phone or a simple camera of their own. Their photographs — taken at knee height, of dogs and market stalls and food — become some of the most treasured documentation of the trip. And they develop a sense of observation that is the root of all great travel.
Questions

Frequently asked

What is the minimum age for these trips?

We plan trips for children as young as 2 years for domestic beach and resort holidays. For international travel, we recommend from age 3, though we have successfully organised international trips for children under 3 with careful planning around nap schedules and short transfers. For long-haul flights (8+ hours), we generally advise 4+ years for the best experience.

Are these trips exclusively for mothers, or can grandmothers and aunts join?

Our Moms & Children holidays warmly welcome any primary female caregiver — mothers, grandmothers, aunts, older sisters, or any nurturing adult-child pair. The spirit of the programme is the bond between a caring adult and a child. We have designed trips for grandmothers and grandchildren, aunts and nieces, and older sisters with younger siblings.

What happens if a child falls ill during the trip?

We maintain a vetted list of English-speaking clinics, paediatric doctors, and hospitals at every destination. Our trip managers carry a paediatric first-aid kit and are trained in basic first aid. We pre-brief all hotels on your child's age and medical history if provided. In the event of illness, we coordinate transport, accompany if needed, and liaise with your travel insurer. No child has ever been left without medical attention on our trips.

Can we include a teen alongside a younger child?

Yes — and multi-age trips are among our most rewarding designs. We build itineraries with morning teen-oriented activities (surfing, hiking, photography sessions) and afternoon child-oriented activities (wildlife, craft workshops, water play). Older children often become wonderful guides for younger siblings, explaining and translating what they are discovering. The dynamic is almost always wonderful.

Do your hotels have child safety features?

Child safety is a core part of our hotel assessment process. We check for pool fencing, non-drop balcony railings for children under 10, well-lit corridors, safe room configurations, and hotel staff responsiveness to children's needs. We brief the property manager on your child's age before arrival and request appropriate room configuration as standard.

What if my child is very picky about food?

We collect detailed food preferences before departure as part of our pre-trip questionnaire. We identify child-friendly options on every restaurant menu, coordinate with hotel kitchens for simple alternatives, and pack an emergency snack kit in your transfer bag. In destinations like Japan and France where child-friendly options require research, we do that research thoroughly in advance. No child goes hungry on our trips.

Is there a solo mom supplement for single-room bookings?

A single supplement applies to solo moms booking a private room, and we always quote this clearly and separately. We work actively to minimise it through strategic accommodation selection — family rooms, connecting rooms, or villas where the configuration means no supplement at all. For some destinations, the supplement is zero. We always present the most cost-effective configuration.

How do you align trips with the Indian school holiday calendar?

All our Mom & Child packages are designed around the standard Indian school holiday windows: May–June summer (our peak season), Diwali/Navratri break (October), Christmas and New Year (December), and spring break (February–March for many schools). We never recommend travel during exam periods and always confirm your school's specific calendar before finalising dates.

Can a friend's child join, or can two mom-child pairs travel together?

Both are common and work beautifully. For a friend's child joining, we need a notarised No Objection Certificate from the other parent plus proper travel documents. Two mom-child pairs travelling together is one of our most popular formats — it gives children a companion of their own age and gives moms someone to share the experience and divide the responsibility with.

What if my child has a disability or special need?

We have designed trips for children with autism, Down's syndrome, ADHD, physical mobility needs, and severe food allergies. Each case requires specific planning, and we approach it as such — slower pacing, sensory briefings for guides, written schedules for children who need predictability, wheelchair-accessible transport, and pre-selected quiet dining environments. Please share every detail with us at the enquiry stage.

How do I explain to my child what to expect at the destination?

We provide a child-friendly 'destination introduction' sheet — written and illustrated for children aged 5–12 — with every booking. It covers what the country looks like, a few words in the local language, what they will eat, what animals or places they will see, and what they should expect on the flight. Many clients tell us this sheet is what made their child genuinely excited rather than anxious about departure.
