Age-Appropriate Activities
Curated experiences for every age — sensory games for toddlers, adventure sports for teens, culture and cuisine for adults. No one is bored, no one is overwhelmed.
Classic holidays planned end to end, from route and stay selection to travel support.
Family Vacations at Taro Voyages is an itinerary planning service for families traveling with children, covering age-appropriate activities, family-friendly stays, and picky-eater dining solutions.
Family travel is not just adult travel with smaller seats. It requires completely different thinking — about pacing, accommodation, activities, meal options, safety, and the thousand unpredictable moments that happen when you have children in tow.
We have helped over 500 families create their most cherished memories — from first international trips with toddlers to teen adventures that finally got the teenagers to put down their phones. We know what works, what doesn't, and what makes the difference between a good trip and a story your family tells for the next twenty years.
Our family specialists are parents themselves. They know that an 8-year-old's attention span for historical monuments is about 45 minutes. They know that a teenage boy on a safari, watching lions hunt, is more engaged than any classroom has ever made him. They know that the family that cooks a local meal together on holiday bonds in ways that nothing back home replicates.
We think about every practical detail: rooms that connect, restaurants that serve vegetarian options without a fuss, guides who are trained to engage children, transfer vehicles with car seats, hotels with kids' clubs that aren't just babysitting.
We also think about the parents. Because a family holiday should not mean the parents never get a moment to themselves. We build in couple time, spa afternoons, and late-morning starts so everyone comes home rested.
What truly sets Taro Voyages family journeys apart is the depth of local knowledge we bring. We don't just book flights and hotels — we curate encounters: a sunrise breakfast on a rice barge in the Kerala backwaters, a private keeper-led rhino tracking experience in Kaziranga, an artisan pottery lesson in a Jaipur home workshop. These are the moments that linger for decades.
Multi-generational travel is another speciality. Grandparents, parents, and children each need something different — pace, activities, accessibility, diet. We have planned three-generation journeys across Europe, Japan, and New Zealand that kept the 70-year-old grandmother and the 12-year-old grandson equally entranced. That balancing act is our craft.
The best gift you give your child is not a toy. It is a memory of seeing the world together — a memory they will carry long after everything else is forgotten.
Bali lies about 3.2 kilometres east of Java, roughly 8 degrees south of the equator, separated from Java by the Bali Strait. The island spans approximately 153 kilometres east to west and 112 kilometres north to south, and its central mountains include several peaks over 2,000 metres, among them the active volcano Mount Agung at 3,031 metres, known locally as the island's 'mother mountain'. Its population density was roughly 798 people per square kilometre in mid-2024.
Kerala, on India's southwestern coast, is wedged between the Laccadive Sea and the Western Ghats, with a coastline of 590 kilometres and a width that varies between 11 and 121 kilometres. The state divides geographically into three distinct regions: the eastern highlands of rugged, cool mountain terrain, the rolling hills of the central mid-lands, and the coastal plains of the western lowlands. A catastrophic flood in 1341 CE reshaped Kerala's terrain and, in the process, created a natural harbour that went on to serve the region's spice trade.
Bhutan, officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked country in the Eastern Himalayas of South Asia, bordering the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north and northwest and India to the south and southeast. With a population of just over 800,000 across 38,394 square kilometres, it ranks 133rd in the world by land area and 160th by population. Bhutan is a democratic constitutional monarchy, with a king as head of state and a prime minister as head of government, while the Je Khenpo leads the state religion of Vajrayana Buddhism.
What Family Vacations actually plans and arranges.
Curated experiences for every age — sensory games for toddlers, adventure sports for teens, culture and cuisine for adults. No one is bored, no one is overwhelmed.
Connecting rooms, family suites, villas with private pools, and kid-safe hotels vetted by our team. No unpleasant surprises when you arrive with children.
We identify family restaurants and brief chefs at every destination. Indian food options abroad, familiar comfort foods for picky eaters, fresh fruit and healthy snacks arranged daily.
We brief your guides on child safety protocols, arrange safe car seats, provide 24/7 emergency contacts, and always have contingency plans for medical situations.
Custom packs for each child — destination-themed colouring, travel games, puzzle books, trivia about where they're going. Keeps kids engaged in the air and in the car.
We arrange kids' clubs, supervised excursions for children, and a few intentional hours for parents to reconnect — because your holiday deserves this balance.
We arrange a private family photo session at the most scenic spot of your trip. Professional photographer, 2 hours, edited images delivered digitally. Complimentary on select packages.
Every itinerary weaves in learning — a temple history talk for curious kids, a cooking class about local cuisine, a conversation with a local artisan. Travel as the best classroom.
Grandparents travel differently. We factor in accessibility, slower pacing, comfortable vehicles, and medical proximity when grandparents are part of the group — ensuring three generations travel seamlessly.
Passport applications, travel insurance for minors, currency management, airport processes — we walk first-time international families through every practical step with a dedicated pre-travel briefing.
Not all family resorts are created equal. We vet children's pools, depth levels, lifeguard presence, proximity of kids' clubs to rooms, and beach safety flags before recommending any property.
A shadow puppet show in Bali, a Kathakali make-up session in Kerala, a Japanese calligraphy lesson in Kyoto — we embed experiences that give children genuine cultural understanding, not just observation.
Every service starts with a human brief and turns into a confirmed scope only after the route, inclusions, and budget band make sense.
Share traveller profile, dates, budget comfort, non-negotiables, and any safety or logistics constraints.
Taro shortlists the right destinations, stays, experiences, routing, and supplier options for this service.
The team refines inclusions, exclusions, quote basis, documents, payment milestones, and cancellation terms.
Travel support stays attached through the journey, with coordination for changes, local assistance, and follow-ups.
There is no minimum age for travel — we have helped families travel with babies as young as 4 months. However, we recommend waiting until children are 12–18 months for long-haul destinations. For families with very young children, we suggest destinations within 4–6 hours flying time and prioritize hotels with cribs, baby food, and medical support nearby.
This is one of our specialties. We brief every hotel, restaurant, and guide about dietary needs in advance. For picky eaters, we identify backup options in every city — familiar foods that most children accept. Indian food is usually available in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Dubai. For Europe and Japan, we prepare in advance with restaurant lists and translated dietary cards.
Yes, with the right planning. We select hotels near hospitals, brief guides on child safety, arrange private transport rather than shared, and provide a destination health advisory. We also coordinate with travel medical insurance that covers children. Millions of families visit these countries safely every year.
Within reason and with agreed check-in protocols, yes. We design itineraries that give teenagers some independence — exploring a market on their own, joining an activity group of similar ages — while maintaining overall group safety. Teens often engage better when given some ownership of their time.
Yes. Many of our partner resorts offer kids' clubs with trained childcare staff. For resorts that don't, we can arrange vetted private babysitters through local hospitality networks. This is arranged and confirmed before arrival — no last-minute scrambling.
Our 24/7 support includes medical emergency coordination. We provide you with the nearest clinic or hospital contact for every destination before you travel. Our team helps navigate language barriers, hospital paperwork, and insurance claims. Travel insurance covering children is mandatory for all our family packages.
Singapore and Bali are our most recommended first international trips. Singapore is extremely family-friendly, English-speaking, medically excellent, and endlessly entertaining for children. Bali offers more of a cultural experience with easier adjustment to Indian dietary preferences. Both have direct flights from Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
Absolutely. The key is storytelling, not lecturing. Our guides are trained to present history through stories, games, and interactive elements that make children feel like detectives or time travellers. Rajasthan, Japan, and Greece come alive when presented this way — and teenagers especially respond well.
Multi-generational planning is a distinct skill. We design split-pace itineraries — a morning activity for energetic grandchildren, a gentler option for grandparents, and a shared family experience in the afternoon. We also choose accommodation that is single-floor, elevator-accessible, and within short distances of key experiences. Kerala, Rajasthan, and Singapore work exceptionally well for multi-generational groups.
Our packages can be quoted either way — with or without international flights. For most families flying from Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, or Delhi, we provide an all-inclusive price that includes flights, transfers, hotel, activities, and most meals. We clearly itemise every component so you know exactly what you're paying for.
For peak season travel (May–June school holidays, Christmas, Diwali), we recommend booking 4–6 months ahead. Certain destinations — Maldives overwater villas, Japan's cherry blossom season, Kenyan safaris — require 6–9 months' advance booking. Last-minute family holidays are possible but choice is limited. Off-peak travel can sometimes be arranged within 3–4 weeks.
Absolutely — and we actively recommend it. The most memorable family holidays mix genuine exploration with pure fun. A day at Universal Studios or IMG Worlds gives children (and parents) uncomplicated joy, which actually makes them more receptive to the cultural experiences around it. We build balance deliberately.
Jet lag with children is real but manageable. We recommend shifting bedtimes gradually 3 days before departure. For eastward travel (from India to SE Asia), the adjustment is minimal — usually 1–2 hours. For westward travel (Europe, Americas), we design the first 2 days with flexible start times so children can find their rhythm. Blackout-curtain rooms and melatonin (consult your paediatrician) also help.
Yes — comprehensive travel insurance covering all family members, including children, is mandatory for all our family packages. It must cover medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and baggage loss. We can recommend specialist providers who offer family policies at competitive rates. For children under 2, ensure the policy covers infant-specific medical care.
Safaris with children under 8 require careful planning. We use private game vehicles (no other passengers) so your guide can adapt pace and language for children. We choose lodges with children's menus, shaded pools, and supervised activities. For the Ranthambhore tiger safari, children above 6 are welcome; for African safaris, most reputable lodges accept children from age 6–8. We guide you to the right choice for your children's ages.
Send dates, travellers, preferred style, and the level of support you need. The team will return with a practical route and quote basis before any booking step.
