Himalayan Summit Flights
Everest view flights from Kathmandu, Kedarnath overflights, Roopkund aerial survey, and the Siachen glacier memorial — the world's greatest mountain range, seen from above it.
High-touch travel with private access, premium stays, and special logistics.
Helicopter Tours at Taro Voyages is a scenic flight service covering landmark overflights, heli-skiing adventures, aerial dining experiences, and volcano overflights across 15+ countries.
There is a moment, about 30 seconds into any helicopter flight over a great landscape, when the passenger stops talking. It is not discomfort. It is the particular kind of silence that comes when the brain simply cannot keep up with what the eyes are seeing.
We have been operating helicopter tourism and transfer services in India for over a decade. Our safety record is perfect. Our pilot partners are retired defence aviation personnel or commercial pilots with thousands of hours in mountain and coastal conditions.
Beyond the spectacular aerial experience, helicopters unlock destinations that roads cannot reach. Char Dham pilgrimage sites in a fraction of the time and effort. Remote Himalayan valleys. Offshore islands. High-altitude military memorial sites. Places that feel all the more sacred for being difficult to reach — and all the more extraordinary from above.
We also arrange helicopter transfers as part of broader itineraries — not just tours. Flying into Kedarnath instead of the 22km trek. Reaching Lakshadweep without the ferry. Making the most of limited time at a destination.
Our fleet partners operate DGCA-certified aircraft including the Bell 407, Robinson R44, and EC130 — ranging from 4-seat private charters to 6-seat sightseeing configurations. Every aircraft is maintained to commercial aviation standards. Every pilot is briefed on our specific routing, and our itineraries build in weather buffers that most operators ignore.
Helicopter travel in India is genuinely transformative — not just as a mode of transport but as an experience in itself. To see the Himalayan range unroll at dawn, or to approach the Char Dham temples from the sky with the valleys glowing below, is to understand these places differently. We believe the journey to the sacred should also be sacred. From above, it can be.
A helicopter doesn't just show you the place differently. It shows you that the place is different.
Kedarnath is a town in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, known primarily for the Kedarnath Temple and considered the most remote of the four Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites. It sits in the Himalayas at about 3,583 metres above sea level, near the Chorabari Glacier — the source of the Mandakini River — flanked by snow-capped peaks including the Kedarnath Mountain, with the nearest roadhead at Gaurikund, about 16 kilometres away.
Vaishno Devi, also known as Vaishnavi, Trikuta or Sherawali, is a Hindu deity worshipped at the Vaishno Devi Temple, where she is considered self-manifest as three Pindis representing the goddesses Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. Regarded as an ascetic, vegetarian and virgin goddess associated with Vishnu, she is revered in the tradition as the Mahadevi, a divine mother who protects and grants boons to her devotees, and is described in some regional traditions as the eldest of the Seven Sisters goddesses of North India.
Nubra, also called Dumra, is a historical region of Ladakh currently administered as a subdivision and tehsil of Nubra district, its inhabited areas forming a tri-armed valley cut by the Nubra and Shyok rivers. Its Tibetan name, Dumra, means 'valley of flowers'; the district's headquarters, Diskit, lies 120 kilometres north of Leh, the capital of Ladakh, and on 27 April 2026 the Lieutenant-Governor of Ladakh approved the formal creation of Nubra as its own district.

What Helicopter Tours actually plans and arranges.
Everest view flights from Kathmandu, Kedarnath overflights, Roopkund aerial survey, and the Siachen glacier memorial — the world's greatest mountain range, seen from above it.
Complete all four sacred Char Dham sites — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath — by helicopter in 5 days. What takes 3 weeks on foot, experienced comfortably and with spiritual depth.
Dubai skyline and Palm Island, Mumbai peninsula and Bandra-Worli sealink, Delhi's Red Fort and Qutab Minar — familiar cities transformed by altitude. Some views only exist from 300 metres up.
Hawaii Big Island volcano overflights, Iceland glacier landings on Vatnajökull, Andaman coral reef aerials — nature at its most dramatic, seen from the only angle that truly does it justice.
Goa's beaches and river estuaries from above, the Amalfi Coast cliff faces, Sydney Harbour at sunrise — coastlines that only reveal their full beauty from the air.
Kedarnath, Vaishno Devi, Lakshadweep, Hemis in Ladakh — transfers that replace 22km treks or 18-hour ferry crossings with minutes of magnficent aerial transit.
A grand entrance to end all grand entrances — helicopter arrivals for wedding ceremonies at luxury venues, complete with petal showers, a red carpet, and a live band touchdown. We handle DGCA permissions, ground space, and timing.
Doors-off photographic flights over the Himalayas, Rajasthan, or the coastline with a professional aerial photographer on board. We co-ordinate altitude, lighting windows, and flight paths for maximum visual drama.
Kargil war memorial overflight, Siachen glacier approach, Nathu La and Bum La border pass aerials — India's most significant defence heritage, seen as no civilian has seen before.
Tiger reserve overflights in Ranthambhore, Kaziranga one-horned rhino territory, and the Sundarbans mangrove delta — wildlife habitats that reveal patterns from the air invisible on the ground.
Birthday surprises, proposals at altitude, anniversary gifts — we arrange private helicopter experiences at sunrise over your chosen landmark. One of the most memorable gifts anyone will ever receive.
DGCA-authorised emergency evacuation services from Himalayan altitudes, remote island locations, and areas inaccessible by road. Available to travel insurance holders. Rapid response from all our partner helipad bases.

Our helicopter partners are all DGCA-certified operators with commercial aviation-grade safety standards. All pilots have a minimum of 2,000 hours of flight experience, including hundreds of hours in mountain or coastal conditions specific to each route. Our safety record across 5,000+ flights across a decade of operations is completely unblemished.
We build weather buffers into all itineraries — a minimum of one extra day for mountain routes, and we monitor hyperlocal forecasts from 72 hours before the scheduled flight. If weather prevents a flight, we reschedule to the next clear window at no additional charge. For Char Dham, we always build at least 1 buffer day into the itinerary.
Most helicopter tours are accessible to seniors and those with mobility limitations — they eliminate the need for trekking entirely. We advise on altitude suitability for specific medical conditions at the time of booking. High-altitude Char Dham packages include a doctor escort for the entire journey and blood pressure monitoring before each flight.
Weight limits vary by aircraft type — typically 80–95kg per passenger for standard touring configurations. We advise on exact limits at booking and can arrange larger-capacity aircraft (Bell 407 or EC130) for passengers above the standard limit. This is arranged in advance — there are no surprises on the day.
Yes — private charters of the full aircraft are available for couples, families, or small groups who prefer exclusive use. Private charters allow fully custom routing, flexible timing, and special arrangements such as champagne on board, a photographer on a parallel flight, or a surprise proposal at a scenic summit.
The Char Dham helicopter season runs from May to June and then September to October/November. Peak season slots — especially the 5-day express format — sell out 2–4 months ahead. We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for groups of 4 or more. Off-peak slots in early May or late September can sometimes be arranged with 3–4 weeks' notice.
Yes — for dedicated aerial photography flights over the Himalayas and select Indian coastlines, we offer doors-off configurations on specific aircraft types. These flights require advance planning, appropriate safety harnesses, and briefing by the pilot. Not all routes or aircraft types permit this — we will advise based on your specific photography goals.
Children above 3 years of age can generally fly on helicopter tours. For pilgrimage routes, there is no age restriction. Children must meet the weight requirements per seat, and infants or toddlers under 3 are not recommended for high-altitude Himalayan flights. We always inform parents of specific altitude and duration considerations for their children.
General darshan at the Char Dham temples during peak season involves queues of 2–8 hours. VIP darshan — which helicopter pilgrims receive through our arrangements with the temple management committees — allows entry through a dedicated lane with a significantly shorter wait, access to the inner sanctum, and time for personal puja with a pandit. The difference is not just time — it is depth of experience.
Absolutely — and this is how many of our clients use helicopter services. The aerial experience becomes one extraordinary chapter of a longer journey. For example: a Rajasthan heritage tour ending with a helicopter flight over the Thar desert at sunset; or a Kerala Ayurveda retreat combined with a helicopter coastal tour from Kovalam. We integrate seamlessly.
The departure point (Dehradun or Kathmandu) may be warm, but destinations like Kedarnath at 3,583m are often below 5°C even in May. We send a specific packing advisory for every route: wind jacket, fleece, gloves, comfortable walking shoes (for short temple approaches), and sunglasses (UV at altitude is intense). Saris and churidars are perfectly fine — we recommend a warm shawl over them.
Travel insurance is mandatory for all our helicopter packages, and we recommend policies that specifically include aerial activities. For international tours (Dubai, Nepal), your standard travel insurance typically covers helicopter sightseeing. For Indian domestic operations, we provide a list of specialist aviation activity insurance providers at the time of booking.
Yes — helicopter wedding arrivals are one of our signature special occasion services. We handle the DGCA landing permission for the wedding venue, coordinate with the venue on ground space and safety perimeter, plan the flight timing for maximum dramatic effect, and can arrange a petal drop from the aircraft on approach. Bookings for wedding season (October–February) should be made at least 3 months ahead.
Currently, scheduled helicopter services between the Andaman Islands are operated by Pawan Hans and require early booking through government channels. We coordinate these bookings as part of Andaman itineraries. For aerial photography over the Andaman reefs and Ross Island, we can arrange chartered scenic overflights through our island aviation partners.
Send dates, travellers, preferred style, and the level of support you need. The team will return with a practical route and quote basis before any booking step.
