Africa Big Five
Masai Mara, Serengeti, Chobe, Okavango Delta, Kruger — the classic African safari circuit with luxury tented camps and expert Swahili-speaking guides who track by footprint, not radio calls.
High-touch travel with private access, premium stays, and special logistics.
Safari and Wildlife Luxury at Taro Voyages is a wildlife travel service covering African Big Five safaris, luxury tented camps, private game drives, and conservation experiences.
There is no filter on wildlife. No curation. No performance. When you encounter an elephant family at a waterhole or watch a leopard carry prey into a tree, it is the world as it has always been — vast, indifferent, and breathtaking. You are simply the witness.
We believe that wildlife travel done properly is among the most transformative experiences available to a human being. It requires three things: the right place, the right timing, and a guide who has devoted their life to understanding a single ecosystem.
Our safari portfolio is built on exactly those principles. Every camp and lodge we recommend has been visited personally. Every guide we endorse has been observed in the field. We do not use the word 'luxury' loosely — a luxury safari means a tent with a view, a hot shower, and a skilled naturalist. Not necessarily a heated infinity pool.
We arrange safaris across Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Southeast Asia — with equal care for the wildlife, the ecosystem, and the experience of the traveller.
Timing is the factor that separates a remarkable safari from a merely good one. The Great Wildebeest Migration crosses the Mara River in a specific window. Tiger sighting probability peaks in specific months. We plan around the animal's calendar, not the traveller's convenience — and that discipline is what consistently produces the encounters our clients describe for the rest of their lives.
The wilderness doesn't care whether you are watching. That is precisely why it is so extraordinary.
Maasai Mara, sometimes spelled Masai Mara and known locally simply as the Mara, is a large national game reserve in Narok County, Kenya, contiguous with Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. It takes its name from the Maasai people, the area's ancestral inhabitants who migrated there from the Nile Basin, and 'Mara' means 'spotted' in the Maa language, describing how the short, bushy trees dot the landscape when seen from a distance.
Ranthambore National Park is a national park in Rajasthan covering 1,334 square kilometres, bounded to the north by the Banas River and to the south by the Chambal River. It takes its name from the historic Ranthambore Fort, which stands within its boundaries in Sawai Madhopur district.
Kaziranga National Park is a national park and World Heritage Site spread across the Golaghat, Sonitpur, Biswanath and Nagaon districts of Assam, on the edge of the Brahmaputra River. It encompasses dense tropical moist broadleaf forest interspersed with tall elephant grass and marshland around numerous beels, hosting populations of the Indian rhinoceros, Asian elephant, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, tiger and fishing cat; it is recognised as an Important Bird Area and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006.

What Safari & Wildlife Luxury actually plans and arranges.
Masai Mara, Serengeti, Chobe, Okavango Delta, Kruger — the classic African safari circuit with luxury tented camps and expert Swahili-speaking guides who track by footprint, not radio calls.
Ranthambore, Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench, Kabini — the best odds in the world of seeing a wild Bengal tiger. Private jeep, expert naturalist, forest department guide. Peak season: February to May.
One-horned rhino at Kaziranga — the world's highest density population. Wild water buffalo, Gangetic river dolphins, and rare hoolock gibbons in Manas. India's underexplored east, extraordinary and uncrowded.
Elephant sanctuaries in Kerala and Chiang Mai — ethical only, no riding. Wild elephant corridors in Wayanad and Nagarhole at dawn. Elephant research camps in Pinnawala, Sri Lanka.
Whale shark snorkelling in the Maldives (November to April), blue whale watching off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, spinner dolphin safaris in Lakshadweep, manta ray dives in Raja Ampat.
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary with 390 recorded species, the Himalayan high-altitude birding circuit (snow leopard country), Sundarbans mangrove birding — for ornithologists and curious beginners alike.
Kinabatangan River boat safaris — wild Bornean orangutan, pygmy elephant, and proboscis monkey. Danum Valley old-growth forest with resident naturalist. One of the most biodiverse places on earth.
Private game reserves adjacent to Kruger — Sabi Sands (where leopard sightings are almost guaranteed), Timbavati, and Thornybush. Combine with Cape Town for the ultimate South Africa journey.
Blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, sea lions, giant tortoises — the Galápagos offers wildlife encounters at arms-length that exist nowhere else on earth. Small-ship expedition cruise, luxury cabins.
Emperor penguin colonies, leopard seals, orca, and albatross — the last great wilderness. Expedition ships from Ushuaia carrying 100–200 guests with marine biologist guides on every landing.
Yala National Park for leopard (highest density in the world), Minneriya for the elephant gathering (August–October, up to 300 elephants), Trincomalee for blue whale watching. Two weeks of astonishing variety.
Chambal river safari for gharial, Gangetic dolphins and marsh crocodile. Sundarbans mangrove boats for the Bengal tiger — the only swimming tiger in the world. Satpura for sloth bear. India's diversity is extraordinary.

October through June, with the peak being February to May when the forests are drier, vegetation is lower, and tigers concentrate near water sources. October through January is excellent and significantly less crowded than the full peak. All India tiger parks close June 30 and reopen October 1.
A luxury tent is typically a permanent canvas structure on a solid wooden or concrete deck — with a proper double or twin bed, en-suite bathroom (often with an outdoor shower facing the bush), electricity, sometimes AC or cooling fans, and 24-hour room service. It is camping in character and atmosphere only, not in comfort.
Responsible safari tourism is one of the most powerful economic forces for wildlife conservation in existence. The revenue directly funds anti-poaching units, community conservancies, corridor protection, and scientific research. We exclusively use camps and operators with documented conservation ethics and community benefit programmes.
Most luxury camps in Africa accept children from age 6–8 upwards (some 12+). India tiger safari vehicles are generally family-friendly. We advise on specific child policies at each camp, and for younger children select age-appropriate parks and activities.
At Ranthambore and Bandhavgarh during peak season (February to May), sighting chances are 70–90% over 4+ game drives for guests who are patient and responsive to the guide's direction. We book the zones and guides with the highest consistent sighting records.
The Great Wildebeest Migration is the year-round movement of 1.5 million wildebeest (with 200,000 zebra) across the Serengeti–Mara ecosystem. River crossings at the Mara River — the most dramatic moment — occur July through October. We book exact dates based on real-time migration tracking and our on-the-ground Kenya contacts.
A walking safari (available in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and some India reserves) means tracking wildlife on foot, accompanied by an armed professional guide. The scale of the bush — and the silence — changes entirely when you are walking. It requires reasonable fitness and a tolerance for uncertainty. It is extraordinary.
We recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a 100–400mm or 150–600mm zoom lens for African safaris. iPhone photography works well with a telephoto adapter at close range. Many of our Africa packages now include a dedicated photographic guide who positions the vehicle for optimal light and teaches camera settings in-field.
Yes — in safari vehicles, you remain within the vehicle at all times (except at designated safety stops). Wildlife largely ignores stationary vehicles, which they have learned are not a threat. The guides maintain safe distances and read animal body language continuously. Safety incidents are extremely rare.
Yellow fever vaccination is required for some African destinations. Typhoid, Hepatitis A, and tetanus are recommended broadly. Malaria prophylaxis is essential for most safari areas. We brief all clients in detail and recommend consulting a travel medicine specialist at least 6 weeks before departure.
Yes — we design multi-continent wildlife itineraries. A popular route: 5 nights India tiger safari, fly Mumbai to Nairobi, 8 nights Kenya Masai Mara. Two of the world's greatest wildlife experiences in under 3 weeks. We coordinate all logistics, visas, and health requirements.
Luxury safari camps serve exceptional food — often a mix of African influenced cuisine and international dishes, freshly prepared with local ingredients. Bush breakfasts (served in the field after a morning drive) and bush dinners (under the stars) are highlights in themselves. Special dietary requirements are always accommodated with advance notice.
Send dates, travellers, preferred style, and the level of support you need. The team will return with a practical route and quote basis before any booking step.
